Alysse Matlock saw a fluffy creature walking in the middle of the roadway when she was traveling down a rural road just outside of Noble, Oklahoma.
It turned out to be a small Australian Shepherd as she approached.
She pulled over out of concern for the dog’s safety and attempted to entice it into her car, but the puppy mistook her good intentions for danger and fled.
Fortunately, when she got home, the woman was able to take a picture and share it on Facebook, asking if anybody else had encountered this tiny ball of fur.
And they certainly did!
Rescue Mission
After sharing the puppy’s picture, she received a ton of responses in her comment area from others who claimed to have seen the identical dog walking around the neighborhood.
But no one was aware of her origins.
Ten miles from where Alysse first saw her, the puppy, now named Journey, was seen in the center of Noble a few days later.
Given that Journey needed shelter to survive, many of the town’s animal lovers were worried about her safety as the days grew colder.
Someone else expressed concern after noticing that her belly was enlarged, indicating that she was highly pregnant and that the pups would soon be born!
After learning this, Alysse set out to find the puppy, this time with the intention of taking her to a secure location.
Alysse spent three hours attempting to persuade Journey to trust her after she eventually found her. However, as 1 a.m. arrived and Journey continued to refuse to give in, Alysse was compelled to return on a different day.
Finally Safe
The very following day, Alysse went back and saw someone peeking behind a big piece of rubbish. After looking more closely, she saw that it was Journey who had discovered a temporary shelter from the cold.
on a video, Alysse stated that she had passed the night curled up on a broken recliner by the side of the road.
Journey refused to obey as Alysse attempted to get her inside the car once more.
They had an idea when Alysse and a few of the town’s residents finally spotted Journey on a hill.
The rescue crew was able to get the little miscreant into the car and restrain her with a little cooperation and a lot of hotdogs.
When she was eventually apprehended, it was such a relief. Alysse told The Dodo that all of us strangers who had pulled over on the side of the road that morning began to embrace.
New Life
Alysse rushed the puppy to the veterinarian as soon as she had it in her custody, and the veterinarian confirmed that the soon-to-be mother would give birth within the next five to seven days.
But Alysse woke up to some odd squeaky noises the very next morning.
Journey was immediately surrounded by two small pups, and their other four siblings soon followed. Journey gave birth to a cute and healthy litter of puppies.
The courageous mother and her children were at last able to get some sleep in a cozy and secure setting, which was crucial for Mama’s recuperation.
The small family will be kept secure for the time being, and Noble Now Inc. Friends of Noble Animal Shelter will put them up for adoption if no owners are identified.
A huge thank you to all the men who helped this cute Australian find a loving and safe home to give birth to her darling babies.
You are all heroes!
