The condition of the animal shelters in the United States is well known.
Approximately 6.3 million animals enter US shelters annually, according to Forbes. Only 4.1 million are adopted, which is regrettable. The remainder of them are left to spend their days confined to kennels, wondering why no one likes them, just as they did when they first arrived.
A small family puzzled why their master had abandoned them so ruthlessly at the side of a busy road without considering their welfare.
Everything Will Be Just Fine
Fortunately, the kind folks at the Three Little Pitties Rescue in Texas were able to pick them up.
It was devastating. They were placed on a sidewalk in a small, dirty kennel. In an interview, Melissa Fears, the founder of the Texas-based rescue, stated that Persephone was unable to assist her babies because she was chained to the kennel.
Even terrible, though, is that the puppies remained in this condition for a few days.For days, people continued to pass them by without stopping to provide assistance. One individual did manage to open their cage, but assistance wasn’t provided until a Good Samaritan made the decision to contact the shelter.
Fears had her ideas, but no one knew why they had been abandoned in this state.
Persephone’s owner probably didn’t spay her, and when she gave birth to puppies, it was simply too much for them to handle. Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for pregnant or nursing dogs to be left on the streets in this area. “Dogs suffer because people feel overburdened,” she remarked.
As soon as the shelter personnel had them under their custody, they got in touch with Alexis to let her know what was going on and to ask if she could take them in as fosters.
She took them in without hesitation, and they started a new chapter in their lives.
At The Fosters
It was hardly surprising that the pups were fairly ill, with one of them in serious condition, given the state in which they were discovered.
The sickest puppy was so sick that she was unable to stand; her ears, tummy, and gums were nearly white, and her body temperature was only about 90 degrees Fahrenheit, compared to the typical range of 101 to 102 degrees. To be honest, we had no idea if she would make it through that first night. Fears claimed that she was so delicate that she would whimper at the slightest touch.
Fortunately, one puppy fared better than the rest.The rescuers were relieved because they anticipated her siblings would follow in her footsteps.
All of the pups recovered remarkably well after a difficult recovery process. When everyone understood that this family would, in fact, have a happy and healthy life, they were all quite relieved.
Finding these cute puppies a loving forever home is now all that’s left to do.
An energetic family or someone who can keep up with their lively energy would be the ideal home for the puppies. To help them become the greatest canines they can be, Fears stated that they will require love, patience, and a little training.
However, Fears believes that their mother would thrive in a household with another male dog. She is the most devoted friend of all and extremely well-behaved.
