Mansfield, Foxborough, Norton, Plainville, Wrentham respond to Route 495 multi-vehicle rollover crash with several seriously injured
A serious crash occurred on a Massachusetts roadway Thursday morning, prompting the response of multiple communities.
A 911 call about a catastrophic multi-vehicle incident with several rollovers on Route 495 near mile marker 32 was received by the Southeast Massachusetts Regional Emergency Communications Center shortly after 9:15 p.m., according to the Mansfield Fire Department.
All of the Mansfield Fire Department’s companies were already involved in other serious situations in the community at the time, so Mansfield Car31 and Foxborough, Norton, Plainville, and Wrentham were asked for mutual aid.
Responders discovered three vehicles—two of which had rolled over—involved on both the northbound and southbound sides of Route 495 when they arrived.
Two seriously injured persons were taken to Rhode Island Hospital by Foxborough Fire.
One patient with severe injuries was also sent to Rhode Island Hospital by Plainville Fire.
One patient with minor injuries was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital by Wrentham Fire.
Norton Fire provided on-scene emergency assistance as well as assistance with vehicle removal.
Mansfield Fire Department expressed their appreciation to all of their mutual assistance partners for their prompt action and cooperation.
