Although many people view their dogs as part of the family, not all of them seem to share this view.
It is sad to leave your pet behind, but it is much more horrible to have your two dogs—who are both extremely content and healthy—put down for no other reason than inconvenience.
They Lived With Him For 10 Years
At his neighborhood veterinary clinic, a guy from Indiana, USA, brought his two dogs, Cosmo and Sam, and requested that they be put down.
They were a bonded pair of elderly canines, Cosmo being a tiny Labrador Retriever mix and Sam being a Pointer.
Before this terrible circumstance, the two dogs had lived with their owner for nearly ten years and were incredibly nice, content, and healthy.
According to the charity, their owner wanted to have them put down since he was moving in with his girlfriend, who had a dog allergy, and they no longer saw them as an essential part of their lives.
Therefore, he believed that convenience euthanasia was the best course of action rather than figuring out a means or even visiting a shelter and giving up the pets.
Requests to end an animal’s life because it no longer fits the owner’s lifestyle are known as convenience euthanasia.[1]
Fortunately, Cosmo and Sam were in excellent health and did not deserve to die that way, so the veterinarian declined to put them to death.According to the veterinarian, none of us want to take a pet’s life unless it is necessary to spare them from misery.
The two canines were taken to Valparaiso, Indiana’s Begin Again Rescue Co. (BARC), a foster-based, nonprofit dog rescue.
Cosmo And Sam Found Their Forever Home
Cosmo and Sam needed a while to recover from the heartache of being left behind, but with the support of the amazing volunteers at BARC, they were able to resume eating, playing, and being themselves.
Even though a connected pair of elderly dogs still had a lot of life left in them, it was difficult to find them a forever home.
Cosmo and Sam went to P.A.W.S. Tinley Park, a no-kill animal shelter in Illinois, USA, after a few months of failing to find a home, and they were offered assistance.
Fortunately, Cosmo and Sam found a home quickly, even though it typically takes much longer for elderly dogs to be adopted.
After learning about Cosmo and Sam’s story, Eric and Tiffany Dybas, who had recently lost their cherished dog, decided to adopt them.
This evening, Sam and Cosmo are lounging on a comfortable couch thanks to our friends at P.A.W.S. Tinley Park! Their Christmas dream was fulfilled, and they were excellent when they went to see Santa! “They have a home!” BARC wrote in a Facebook post.
The shelter reports that the two adorable boys are content in their new home, where they are lavished with love and attention.
