A man from South Carolina was caught early Sunday morning after an 18-wheeler chase that went through several Mississippi counties.
At 12:19 a.m. on December 22, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was told that a semi-truck that had been running from Louisiana State Police was coming into Rankin County westbound on I-20 from Scott County.
Deputies quickly found the car near the 56-mile sign and saw that it was dangerously weaving between lanes. When a police officer tried to stop the driver for speeding, the driver refused, which led to a chase.
Officers from the Pearl Police Department put down spike strips near the 52-mile mark, which made the chase worse. The truck hit the lines but kept going west. It went through the city of Jackson and into Clinton before finally stopping.
When police officers came up to the car, the driver locked himself inside. The police had to break the driver’s window to catch him.
It was found that the suspect was David Sergey Pozdnyakov, 30, of Duncan, South Carolina. He was arrested. He is being charged with:
fleeing is a crime
DUI stands for “driving while impaired.”
Not listening to a police officer
Not Paying Attention
Without bond, Pozdnyakov is still being held at the Rankin County Detention Center.
The event is being looked into by the authorities, and more charges could be brought in both Mississippi and Louisiana.
