One adorable shelter canine who longs to find her soul mate is Squirrel.
She had a family and a house before Hurricane Helene reached Florida, but sadly, they abandoned her on the streets.
The dog wandered around in sadness, wondering why the people she loved most had betrayed her.
Starting A Life In Shelter
Luckily, Squirrel was discovered by rescuers at Tampa, Florida’s Mercy Full Project shelter prior to the storm’s arrival.
She was sad and perplexed.
The shelter took the puppy in because they were heartbroken for her.
“She was so scared, and she’s just a puppy,” Mercy Full Project posted on TikTok.
It took Squirrel a while to adjust to her new circumstances and come to terms with the knowledge that her family would not be returning for her.
The staff made an effort to comfort her and distract her from her misery. They reassured her that everything would be fine and showered her with hugs.
Squirrel’s sorrowful, deep eyes gradually brightened. The dog felt safe because of the staff’s affection for her.
Squirrel begged her human friends for affection since she constantly wanted to be with them.
However, as much as the staff tried to be there for her whenever she needed them, they couldn t give her all their time.
The dog would jump and climb up the bars of her kennel every time they passed it, pleading for an embrace.
The Pup Longs For A Loving Home
A video of the cute puppy that went viral on the Internet was posted by the shelter in October 2024.
The clip showed Squirrel jumping up and down in the kennel, trying to get noticed.
She had a lovely smile on her face while she pleaded for some cuddles.
She unlocked her kennel door after one of the shelter staff was unable to walk past the puppy.
She eased up and began to absorb her love as soon as she scooped Squirrel up.
The puppy captured the hearts of the clip’s viewers. They wished that Squirrel would quickly find a forever home.
Currently, the puppy is in foster care. She keeps waiting for her humans to take her home and shower her with love and endless cuddles that she deserves.
Thankfully, the shelter received many adoption applications for Squirrel and the pup is very close to realizing her greatest wish.
