No matter how soothing or charming, a shelter setting is never the best for dogs. For our four-legged pals, the idea of spending a portion of the day confined in a little enclosure can be too much to handle.
They go outside, get to know new volunteers and dogs, play a lot, and then are put back in their solitary captivity with four walls. Doesn’t it sound depressing?
No one is more aware of this than Mya, a resident of Halifax County Animal Control in Virginia.
This beautiful Hound girl hit her breaking point after only a few months in the shelter, and her caregivers were completely taken aback by the manner she expressed it!
She Didn t Expect To See This
Longtime shelter worker Marissa Emerman recently became viral on the internet after sharing a video of one of their inmates, Mya.
Mya had somehow climbed up onto the railing of her crate, which was an odd sight for Emerman to see when she was going about her daily business in the shelter. Marissa noticed that Mya had been watching her escape path as she took a closer look.
Despite her innate friendliness and lack of demands, Marissa blamed Mya’s audacious action on her emotional collapse. The Hound girl had reportedly learned to climb as a coping mechanism for boredom after spending several months at the shelter while she waited for the perfect home!
Clearly, she has reached her breaking point. In the video, Marissa wrote literally.
During her extended stay, Mya, a Hound dog, perfected her expertise, but her true motivation for scaling the railing was to ask for assistance in finding her home as quickly as possible.
The video went viral very fast, and the comment section was soon overflowing with responses from all around the world!
One commenter said, “I hope she finds her forever family.”
clearly really intelligent and in need of a lot of mental stimulation! Another person said, “I hope she finds a great home that will keep her busy.”
Despite being moved to a covered kennel for her protection, Mya continues to wait for the ideal opportunity.
Many Four-Legged Friends Waiting To Be Adopted
Marissa frequently shares eye-catching videos on her TikTok account, Shelter Tails, which highlights the animals in the Halifax County animal shelter.
All she can hope for is that someone will finally give these needy furballs the opportunity they so richly deserve.
My case is not unique. Numerous more dogs (and cats) who are on the verge of emotional collapse are routinely ignored, according to Emerman’s films.
Despite receiving excellent care and nothing but love, these animals all share the need for a place of their own where they may play, run, and sleep comfortably without being confined to small spaces.
