Heroic Vet Takes In 41 Animals For Care As Owners Escape Horrific Wildfires Raging In California
It is often said that hardships illuminate real-life heroes, and Annie Harvilicz’s story is no exception.
When this California veterinarian chose to welcome dozens of animals in dire need of a place to stay at her clinic despite the roaring wildfires, she showed incredible bravery and compassion.
What started off as a straightforward social media appeal swiftly turned into a crusade to save lives, uniting the entire community!
An Act To Remember
When Annie Harvilicz, the owner of two animal hospitals in the Los Angeles region, saw that scores of animals were in danger, she acted without hesitation.
She immediately sent out a Facebook message alerting everyone to a vacant hospital that might accommodate pets that needed to be evacuated, located only twelve miles away from the escalating wildfire.
In Marina del Rey, I own an abandoned veterinary clinic. Dr. Annie wrote, “I am pleased to house any animals that need to be evacuated.”
Concerned pet owners sent hundreds of emails to Dr. Harvilicz in a few of days. There were 41 animals in the facility at one point, including several cats and dogs from the same families as well as one lone rabbit named Oreo.
The veterinarian informed CBS Mornings that the majority of the animals that ended up staying here belonged to households with several pets.

Dr. Annie will keep up her good work, but she wants to remind everyone who owns a pet how important it is to take care of them. She urges folks to escape with their pet friends first and foremost.
According to Harvilitz, a lot of hotels, Airbnbs, and other establishments now welcome families with pets, which makes it simpler for them to choose secure locations in this circumstance.
Harvilitz does, however, stress that she is more than willing to assist individuals who are still unable to find a solution, especially those who own several pets. The procedure is still ongoing, but nearly all of the 41 pets she originally admitted have been returned to their owners or placed in foster care.
Their evacuation was removed, so they all returned to their homes. Fosters were also discovered. “It’s an incredible story, and so many people have been reaching out,” Harvilicz said.
