Drivers in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts are being warned by the National Weather Service.
Travel may get slick as patches of black ice form tonight and until early Sunday morning.
In the next hour or so, the last of the rains will be leaving the area. Otherwise, temperatures will drop to about freezing or slightly below in many places due to mild breezes and partial clearing during the night. Given our recent run of cold weather, this might lead to the formation of patchy freezing fog and black ice on some road surfaces.
Drivers who intend to drive through the night and into the early hours of Sunday should be ready for stretches of black ice. Roads that appear moist may actually be icy, particularly over bridges and overpasses.
