In front of their shelter, DeKalb County Animal Services officers in Georgia saw a tragic scene one morning.
A solitary cardboard box of plums contained a Pitbull dog that had been abandoned. Even when the shelter personnel took the frightened and malnourished dog inside, he refused to leave his tiny box.
The puppy, whom the shelter chose to call Plum, refused to come out of the crate no matter what they did.
Abandoned And Scared
Because of his family’s callous abandonment, Plum was simply terrified and depressed.
All we wanted to do was give him a hug, comfort him, and reassure him that he was safe. Karen from the LifeLine Animal Project told The Dodo, “We put up a nice crate with a fluffy bed and some treats, and we left the door open, hoping he would go in on his own.”
Although it took weeks for Plum to open up, he ultimately began to explore the surroundings after he interacted with some of the shelter staff.
The shelter realized what a fantastic dog he was as he began to gradually emerge from his shell and his crate.
He couldn’t leave the security of his box when Plum came. “We love seeing his personality blossom and he has made so much progress,” the LifeLine Animal Project wrote in a Facebook post.
Since Plum was usually so adorable and cuddly, it was not surprising that he bonded with the shelter staff right away.
To everyone’s amazement, his humorous and silly side gradually emerged as well.
They were finally able to see that he would be okay after weeks of helping him get over his worries.
We started blogging about him because we wanted him to have a happy ending. A month later, his adopter arrived and completely enchanted him, and Karen agreed.
Plum was returning homeāfor good this time!
Plum Going Home
A lovely mom from Atlanta, Georgia named Melonie adopted this adorable boy.Melonie felt she had to adopt him right away because it was love at first sight.
Melonie told The Dodo, “He had what might have been an old soul or something that kind of stood out and brought our attention to him.”
Plum was still a tiny puppy when he was originally adopted, but he has gained about 20 pounds and appears to be in much better health.
He even likes to play with a few of his furry companions at his new house. It appeared that they were a wonderful match.
Plum can be pretty silly, but Melonie says he’s the sweetest puppy ever. Rolling around on the grass while lying upside down is one of his favorite things to do.
He snores loudly and falls asleep easily. He can doze off in the most awkward-looking furniture or in the most awkward-looking poses. Melonie added, “He’s truly a sleep connoisseur.”
Despite having a difficult beginning, Plum is now a really happy boy, and I am so thrilled for him.
