Saying goodbye is quite difficult. When you love someone, the sense of emptiness is basically the same whether you are apart for a week, two weeks, a month, or even a year.
Saying goodbye to their humans is only the beginning for dogs.
These four-legged animals stand at doors, look through windows, watch from their yards, and just wait for their owners to return, without realizing that they are seeing their cherished people for the last time in a long time.
Murphy, a longtime family dog, experienced just that when his mother, Janna, had to depart for military service.
Murphy Couldn t Believe His Eyes
Jenna and Murphy, her dog, are undoubtedly soulmates.
They couldn’t fathom their lives without one another because they have so many wonderful memories together. When she had to depart for military training, it was very difficult for her to leave Murphy in Salem, Ohio, at her parents’ house.
The two parted ways for eight hard months while they waited to see one another again.
In one of her Instagram postings, Janna said, “Anyone who says breakups are difficult has never loved and had to leave a dog.”
Janna thought about all the wonderful moments the two had made together, knowing how sad it would be to be without Murphy.
“I am so grateful to you for being the best roommate I could have ever imagined, for only breaking two pairs of my Nikes, for being my only running partner, for being an incredible vacuum, and for allowing me to be your big spoon every night before I go to bed,” she continued.
Then the day finally arrived, eight months later!
When Janna got to her house in Ohio, she thought she would see Murphy sprinting madly in her direction, but that wasn’t the case.
Murphy initially appeared perplexed rather than going to his cherished owner. He remained at a distance until Janna addressed him by name.
Unaware that the woman in front of him was actually his mother, he approached her carefully a few moments later.
Murphy went into wiggle mode when he finally recognized the familiar scent he had been missing for so long! In a matter of seconds, he was all kisses and cuddles, giving his mother the homecoming she had long hoped for.
Murphy once knocked Janna to the ground out of excitement, but she didn’t mind.
All that mattered was that the two were together at last after all this time.
