Rescuers From California Found A Pup Dumped At Elementary School So They Gave Him A New Chance

We typically view our pets as beloved family members, but I suppose that’s not the case for everyone.

The sad reality is that a lot of dogs experience callous abandonment in the most heinous and brutal ways, with no consideration for the severe effects that such neglect may have on those helpless creatures.

Think about what it would be like if your family silently left you on the street.

This poor puppy was so terrified of everything after his owner cruelly left him at an elementary school that he hid behind a building from everyone.

Dog With A Heart-Shaped Mark

A little dog that had been left at a nearby elementary school prompted a call to California’s non-profit rescue group Hope For Paws.

The two rescuers got to the scene as quickly as they could.

The poor dog just hid behind the building in a very small passageway and refused to come out since he was so afraid of everything and everyone.

He spent roughly two weeks there.

The team determined that calling skilled rescuers was the best course of action because the building was an elementary school.

To keep the dog from fleeing, the rescuers blocked up the surrounding area with baby gates.

However, he was resting on a heap of leaves, utterly afraid.

Apparently, a cheeseburger worked. He had likely gone days without eating, so when the savior tossed him a bit of the cheeseburger, he began to open up right once.

Nevertheless, his eyes were filled with apprehension. He was really anxious.

He began to approach the savior gradually, step by step, until she could lift him up.

It was really difficult to get to him in such cramped area. According to Hope For Paws, JoAnn made the decision to catch him in the soft snare and remove him.

He eventually calmed down after being gently reassured for a few minutes. Rufus was the name they chose for him.

Happily Ever After

After loading Rufus into their car, they drove him to the hospital, where he was examined and given a wash.

He behaved like such a good boy the entire time.He was aware that he was at last in capable hands.

You could tell that his conduct had changed significantly in just two weeks. Rufus was generally much happier and more playful, though he still had some insecurities.

While he awaited his forever family, L A Animal Rescue agreed to take him in.

He is a beagle/corgi/spaniel mix, and he is around two years old. He gets along with everyone, including pets. The rescue stated in their Facebook post that although he is still working on potty training, he is a quick learner.

Rufus was fortunately adopted into a lovely family in Camarillo, California, approximately a month later.

Rufus is living a great life after finding his happily ever after.

And as his little bandana indicates, Rufus is a superdog—or, perhaps more accurately, a superman. Overcoming concerns and regaining trust requires a great deal of bravery.
