Pup Stuck At Shelter In South Carolina Loves People But Every Adopter Just Ignores Him

The most recurring topic in my articles about rescue dogs is that people tend to overlook older pets in favor of younger ones.

Of course, there is some degree of logic to this. People’s desire to adopt a puppy is understandable, but that doesn’t negate the fact that older dogs should also be loved and cared for by a family.

More elderly dogs need to be adopted, and people need to be less hesitant about the possibilities available at the shelter. The dog in this story has been at the shelter for a long time, but no one has expressed interest in adopting him.

The Sweetest Rescue Dog

On numerous occasions, Barney hoped that someone would visit the Darlington County Humane Society in South Carolina and ask for him, but that never materialized.

No one appeared interested in taking him to his permanent home throughout the time he had been in the shelter.

The staff would give him hugs and kisses to help him cope with the disappointment whenever someone came to adopt another puppy.

But it was insufficient to break his spirit. He stayed a very content dog during his whole stay in the shelter in spite of everything.

He certainly likes playing with other dogs, but Barney prefers spending time with a human, Wendy Ransome told The Dodo. Barney is a cheerful, gregarious, and loving youngster.

She also thinks that many prospective adopters are afraid of Barney because of his size, even though they are unaware of how joyful and playful he truly is.

He is simply the most amiable dog in the shelter, she added, and he enjoys playing with everyone.

A New Chance For Barney

The shelter workers posted on Facebook:

He craves attention. He begs you to take him out when you visit his kennel.

In order for you to reach inside and cherish every inch of him, he will squeeze himself as close to the gate as he can. He is thrilled if you sit with him. He will be ecstatic if you take him out to play.

Barney maintained his optimism during his stay in the shelter in spite of the several setbacks.

Lincoln, Barney’s best friend, encouraged people to adopt him when he was still in the shelter in February of this year.

Barney will wait for his opportunity at Paws Around The Pee Dee in South Carolina, where he was taken in by the rescue partners to help improve his chances of adoption.

Barney is a happy dog who has a lot of love to give and deserves the best in life, even though it’s unknown if he was ultimately adopted.
