cybersecdn- In Florida on Christmas Day 2023, there will likely be more going on than just nice feelings. The possible reveal of the winner of the record-breaking $1.602 billion Mega Millions prize, as required by state law.
A record-breaking $1.6 billion prize was won on August 8 at the Publix on 630 Atlantic Boulevard in Neptune Beach. This jackpot is bigger than the previous record of $1.537 billion awarded in South Carolina on October 23, 2018.
Although the winner claimed the prize in September, their identity was originally kept secret because that’s how Florida’s lottery laws work. “EXEMPT under F.S. 24.1051” law protected their privacy. After 90 days, however, this law’s confidentiality clause is no longer valid.
The Florida Lottery is now allowed to reveal the winner’s name as of December 25. Whoever chose the cash prize got a total of $783 million. Additionally, Publix received an extra $100,000 for selling the winning ticket. Lottery numbers for this event were 13, 19, 20, 32, and 33, along with Mega Ball 14 and a 2X Megaplier.
Florida’s law, which went into effect on May 25, 2022, makes sure that people who claim wins worth more than $250,000 can keep their claims secret for a determined amount of time. The law’s prohibition on secrecy has now ended, and everyone is eagerly waiting to find out who pulled off this great victory.
