Brooklyn Skyscraper Dances with the Wind: A Tower’s Swaying Spectacle!

Cybersecdn- A video on Instagram shows that the Brooklyn Tower swayed back and forth in strong winds on Tuesday, when a winter storm hit the New York City area.

“Timelapse of the Brooklyn Tower swaying in last night’s 60 mph wind gusts,” the WhatIsNewYork post read.

More than a million people have watched the 37-second video and more than 50,000 people have shared it on Instagram. Plus, more than 45,000 people have liked it.

Meteorologists at PIX11 News say that the powerful storm on Tuesday brought heavy rain and strong winds to the tri-state area. From Brooklyn to Midtown Manhattan and parts of Suffolk County on Long Island, wind speeds hit 63 mph. Their highest points were 45 mph in Brooklyn and 55 mph in Midtown Manhattan.

The video was met with a reaction from a spokesperson for JDS Development Group, the company that manages the Brooklyn Tower. “The building, like all tall buildings, is meant to move, and it did exactly what it was designed to do on a windy day,” a JDS spokesperson said.
