Cybersecdn- In a significant breakthrough, Iris Iliana Rodriguez, a former counselor who had been eluding authorities for nearly a decade, was finally apprehended. Rodriguez, prominently featured on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted list, was arrested in Jalisco, Mexico, marking the end of an extensive international manhunt.
Rodriguez’s disappearance dates back to January 2015, following the issuance of arrest warrants by Texas authorities. She faced multiple charges, including three counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, three counts of harassment, and one count of unlawful restraint. These allegations stemmed from her “inappropriate relationship” with an 11-year-old girl.
Initially, Rodriguez made contact with the minor through her role as a counselor for the Child, Adolescent, and Parent Services (CAPS) program in Laredo, Texas. She later obtained a position at a behavioral health center, which allowed her continued access to the victim under the guise of providing guidance and support.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) credits a crucial tip received via Texas Crime Stoppers for the breakthrough in the case. This tip led to a coordinated arrest plan involving DPS’s Criminal Investigations Special Agents from Laredo and the U.S. Marshals Service in Mexico.
