As safety concerns rise and the need for self-defense grows, many turn to various weapons for protection. However, in New York State, possessing certain self-defense tools can lead to criminal charges.
The New York Senate has outlined specific weapons that are illegal to carry, and being caught with any of these can result in a charge of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

- Cane Sword: A concealed sword hidden within a walking cane.

- Kung Fu Throwing Star: A flat, star-shaped weapon designed for throwing.
- Metal Knuckles: Brass knuckles used to enhance the force of a punch.
- Chuka Stick (Nunchucks): A pair of connected sticks used in martial arts.
- Slungshot: A weighted weapon used to strike with force.
