Despite the valiant efforts of emergency responders, Ballard tragically succumbed to her injuries approximately 40 minutes later. Mendoza, initially listed in critical condition, ultimately succumbed to his injuries as well. Less than 20 minutes after the Harlem shooting, another shooting incident was reported on East 37th Street in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. There, 17-year-old Bryan Henriquez was found with gunshot wounds to his neck and torso. Despite the swift actions of medical personnel, Henriquez was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
