Excited to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, a couple from Texas made sure to pack everything they would need. They hurried to the Lubbock airport to board the plane and begin their eagerly anticipated vacation as soon as they were certain that was it.
They were certain that the luggage check would be quick and easy when they arrived, and they would board the plane right away.
They never would have imagined that one of their bags would weigh six pounds more than it did.
Their Sneaky Chihuahua
The airport staff informed Jared and Kristi Owens that they needed to check one of their bags because it was too heavy just as they were ready to board the aircraft.
Even though they were both stunned and taken aback, they were able to maintain their composure and follow instructions. But when they opened the sack and saw that something was moving within, that was the true shock.
They were packing when they noticed a happy face peering out of Jared’s boot. It was their senior Chihuahua, who had somehow gotten into the bag without them noticing. Both of them, but especially Jared, were completely taken aback.
When you arrive at the airport to check your bags, you know that your trip to Vegas is going to be incredible.Six pounds overweight, and a chihuahua bursts out of your boot! Amazing! In his Facebook post, Jared wrote.
They were taken aback at the time, but upon reflection, it was just normal Icky behavior.
To be honest, we were flat-shocked, mortified, and dumbfounded. Jared told FOX 29 News Philadelphia, “I guess she chose our suitcase that day, which we had left open with clothes in it for hours. She loves to burrow in our laundry baskets, closet, blankets, wherever she can get nice, warm, and comfy.”
Thankfully, one of the airport staff members found this situation amusing and even thrilling rather than embarrassing.
Airport Employee Saves The Day
Jared and Kristi Owens were still standing at the airport, unsure of what to do, as the plane was about to take off for Las Vegas. They didn’t intend to bring their elderly Chihuahua along, but they also didn’t have time to bring her home.
Cathy, one of the staff members, was thrilled about the circumstance and volunteered to watch Icky for however long was required. Jared was thrilled, as was his buddy!
Thank you for your fantastic customer service, Cathy from #southwestairlines! She volunteered to keep an eye on Icky till we returned! Come on!Jared posted a message.
Jared was able to call family friends who were rushing to the airport to pick up Icky and take her home in the few time they had left before takeoff.
Despite their slight annoyance with their pet, Jared and Kristi bid her and the airport staff member who was taking care of her farewell with warmth before departing on their trip.
Since they would not have discovered a smiling face when they opened the bag if Icky had remained inside, they may nevertheless feel extremely content and joyful as a result of this turn of events.
