DOGE Controversy: Wyoming Rep. Hageman Speaks Out on Town Hall Disruptions and Tesla Attacks

Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman has strongly criticized protesters affiliated with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) after they disrupted her town hall meetings. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Hageman called the protests “highly orchestrated” and accused Democrats of trying to silence Republican voices because they have no viable solutions to offer.

Hageman: “This Was Not Grassroots”

During two town halls in Wyoming last week, protesters disrupted the meetings, making headlines on social media. Hageman dismissed the idea that these protests were spontaneous, claiming that many of the attendees were likely from outside the state.

“This was not grassroots,” Hageman said. “I’ve held 75 town halls in the last three years, and only two have been disrupted. That tells you something.”

She further accused Democratic leaders, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, of pushing a “national movement” to silence Republicans instead of engaging in constructive debate.

“Democrats Are Lost in the Wilderness”

Hageman argued that Democratic policies have failed in every area, including education, healthcare, business, and national security. She believes that, as a result, Democrats are resorting to shouting down Republicans instead of offering solutions.

“They have lost the narrative and the support of the American people,” Hageman said. “Instead of discussing policies, they lash out at people like me.”

She pointed to the fact that some protesters were chanting about January 6, despite the fact that she decisively defeated Liz Cheney—who led efforts to impeach Trump over the Capitol riot—by nearly 40% in her election.

“The protests are not organic. They are part of a larger strategy to block conservatives from speaking,” she said.

Violence at Tesla Dealerships: A Case of Double Standards?

Hageman also spoke about the wave of violence at Tesla dealerships, where several cars were set on fire. She accused Democrats of ignoring the issue because of Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s association with former President Trump and DOGE.

“When you look at what Schumer, Jeffries, and others are saying, you see that they are deliberately trying to stir up unrest,” Hageman said. “Yet they refuse to call these acts ‘domestic terrorism,’ even though they were quick to use that term against conservative parents at school board meetings.”

Town Hall Disruptions and Security Concerns

Hageman defended Republicans against accusations that they are avoiding town halls to evade questions on DOGE and Trump’s policies. She argued that it is Democratic activists who are turning these meetings into hostile environments.

“They just want a viral moment,” she said. “They want to record someone saying something they can take out of context.”

Because of these disruptions, Hageman has increased security at her town halls, though she expressed concern that this diverts resources from the wider community.

While some critics have raised concerns about DOGE’s approach to reducing government waste, Hageman insisted that the initiative has strong backing from the people of Wyoming.

“There will be mistakes, but don’t try to tell me the government has been running smoothly all these years,” she said. “The people of Wyoming support this administration’s efforts to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.”
