Fall River, other communities, issuing parking ban ahead of storm; here is what you need to know

0

Fal River and the adjacent municipalities have started issuing information and parking bans.

A citywide parking restriction has been declared by Mayor Paul Coogan, and it will take effect from Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm until Monday, January 20, 2025, at 9:00 am.

Drivers are reminded that parking is permitted on the north side of all city streets that run east and west and on the west side of all streets that run north and south when a parking prohibition is in force. This usually signifies that parking is not permitted on the side of the fire hydrant. $65.00 is the fine for breaking the parking ban.

The purpose of the parking prohibition is to improve access to snowplows for safer and cleaner streets while granting emergency vehicles, such as police, fire, and medical vehicles, unobstructed access to all roadways.

To make room for safety vehicles and heavy machinery, parking is prohibited within 20 feet of a corner. Parking is not permitted against the traffic median, however it is permitted on both sides of any roadway that is separated by one.

The owner of any car that violates the parking ban and needs to be towed in order to make room on the streets for plows or emergency vehicles must call 508-676-8511 to find out where the towed vehicle is. Before the stored car is released, all towing costs must be paid to the appropriate tow firm.

Until the prohibition is lifted, parking is accessible at the following locations:
