The Maui, Hawaii-based pair Bruce and Sue are accustomed to protecting the lives of defenseless animals from various hardships.
Sometimes, though, even they are powerless. This was unquestionably one of them!
The pair was on their feeding route in the neighborhood when they noticed a disturbing scene: a defenseless, fluffy animal with its head trapped in a hole in a concrete wall, attempting in vain to escape but failing.
Bruce and Sue were stunned by what they had just seen, but they already had a plan.
What Is It
The pair from Hawaii wasted no time. They got in touch with the Maui Humane Society right away, and they quickly sent out an officer. Within minutes, Department of Humane Enforcement’s Kaitlyn Mason arrived on the scene.
Rescuers discovered the animal in need was actually a feral cat after closer examination. Despite her desperate attempts to break free, she was ultimately forced to wait for the three of them to start the rescue effort.
The small area she had inside the concrete was insufficient for her to feel comfortable, and she was truly stuck.
Kaitlyn and her assistants needed to come up with an alternative to dragging her out. They started carving out the concrete since they didn’t want to tug too hard on her neck and run the danger of killing the cat.
Officer Mason and Bruce started chipping away at the concrete because there wasn’t much room within the wall and they didn’t want to risk tugging too hard on her neck. The Maul Humane Society said in a Facebook post that they were able to free her after a lot of hard labor.
They worked on it piece by piece until they finally saw the big picture.
Bruce assisted Officer Kaitlyn in safely extracting the last bits of concrete from the cat’s throat as a final step. Finally, she was free and prepared to go on thrilling adventures!
However, Kaitlyn had one more task to complete.
She chose to take the cat, called Kaity after her hero rescuer, to the veterinarian’s office as a precaution.
Thankfully, She Is Safe Now
Sue and Bruce eagerly anticipated hearing about Kaity. Then, the very next day, Kaitlyn and the MHS team presented them with the most incredible update! Kaity was in excellent condition and prepared to return to her untamed friends on Bruce and Sue’s land.
Fortunately, she was unharmed, and the following day, following her spay, she was brought back to Bruce and Sue’s land, MHS stated.
The couple was more than eager to embrace Kaity once she was done with her treatment.
As a thank you for being so patient with the rescue, they prepared her a little treat at home that included extra scritches.
Now, with all that behind her, she s finally ready to pick up where she left off in her own feral colony chasing adventures with her fellow companions!
Good luck, Kaity. And, try to stay away from trouble this time!
