The employees of the entertainment facility were summoned right away to look into the situation. They had no idea that a real live groundhog would show up in place of a plush animal!
Yes, exactly! A groundhog!
The team was shocked by what they had just witnessed and perplexed as to how this tiny ball of fur had gotten into the claw machine in the first place.
The most likely explanation was that the groundhog entered the Center undetected and then, when no one was around, found a comfortable place inside the machine. How easy it is to blend in with the comfortable pillows!
The Center quickly sought assistance from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, which replied in a matter of minutes.
Zaffuto, an experienced Warden, quickly showed up to take charge of the rescue effort.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Southcentral Region posted on Facebook that when Warden Zaffuto reacted and went up to the machine, he noticed a wave of stuffed animals moving while the groundhog scuttled around below and then poked its head out to check on the situation.
The Strange Visitor Is Safely Released
The Warden didn’t want to try his claw-machine talents, even if it was one of the alternatives. He was more willing to release this wandering visitor in a safer manner. He didn’t want to take the chance because, after all, earning the prize might occasionally be difficult.
Rather, the team decided to get in touch with the vending machine firm, which proved to be a wise choice in the end.
According to the Game Commission, Warden Zaffuto was able to safely capture the groundhog and release it without any injury after contacting the vending machine company to unlock the machine.
Most remarkably, the groundhog was entirely undamaged during its successful rescue and release.
The staff was ultimately relieved to see this small, fuzzy animal alive and well.
