A 45-year-old man from Jamaica, Queens, was arrested on multiple charges after being pulled over for running a red light in Smithtown on Sunday, September 1. Terrance Brown was driving a 2003 Nissan Altima westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway with his girlfriend and her 11-year-old son when he nearly collided with a Suffolk County Police vehicle at the intersection of Old Willets Path. After being stopped by officers, it was determined that Brown was intoxicated.
In addition to driving while intoxicated, Brown was found to have stolen license plates on his vehicle. He now faces several charges, including aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger under Leandra’s Law, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of stolen property. Brown was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday, September 2.
