Man Charged with Murder in Lee County Shooting

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has charged Randall Eugene Pearson, 32, with murder following a deadly shooting early Sunday morning.

Authorities received a 911 call around 12:30 a.m. on September 8, reporting that a gunshot victim was being transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) by a companion.

The victim, identified as 31-year-old Victor Lewis Morgan from Birmingham, was later taken to the East Alabama Medical Center (EMAC) in Opelika but was pronounced dead at 2:17 a.m.

The shooting occurred on Walnut Street, south of Opelika, after an altercation. Pearson was arrested shortly after the incident and now faces murder charges.
