According to the organization, they were both underweight, sluggish, and completely soaked.
The cubs—later identified as Lutra Lutra—were clearly worn out and just a few hours away from their unavoidable demise. They couldn’t have lived in the box by themselves without the right care.
Thankfully, a nice bystander scooped them up on time and took them to the appropriate treatment.
Heading Toward Full Recovery
Soon after, the Cuan Wildlife Rescue team worked with UKWOT, who consented to transport infants to their facility. They intend to release both otters back into the wild, where they belong, following appropriate rest and recuperation.
But the issue still stands: how did these two infants get into a box on the side of the road in the first place? The group intends to look into this situation and provide the full story.
It is illegal to harm, capture, or disturb otters in any way, and the team is dedicated to taking all necessary steps to hold individuals who put them in this predicament accountable.
According to the Facebook post, UKWOT founder Dave Webb said, “This is an unprecedented act of planned cruelty, and here at UKWOT, we will do everything we can to bring these people to justice for this despicable act.”
These two infants are at last in a secure location, free from the terrifying circumstance, and they are eager to return to the natural world. They will get all the love and attention till then, and they will now see the good aspects of people.
