Matted Dog Loses Pound Of Fur And Looks Unrecognizable After Two-And-A-Half Hour Grooming Session
We all need a little shove to get back on track sometimes, and Reggie certainly needed one!
The six-year-old Maltese was almost a lost cause after his family left him at a shelter in Arizona. Because of how matted his coat was, Reggie suffered from discomfort and wounds all over his body. He didn’t even resemble his former self; he looked completely different.
Then his entire world transformed after a two-and-a-half-hour grooming session!
It Took Several People To Groom Him
Reggie was in less than optimal condition when he was turned up to the Arizona Humane Society in December 2024. The main issue was his extremely matted coat, yet he missed his owners terribly.
Reggie’s fur was so filthy and knotted that it was practically hard to cut with scissors. He needed a thorough grooming session, which is just what the AHS staff gave him!
One of the groomers, Amitie Davis, recalls the complexity of Reggie’s case.
It was quite impossible to pass through his mats since they were so thick and covered in poo. Reggie’s neck was the worst, though.
Many individuals returned to it, then moved on to something else, and finally returned to the neck, which took a very long time. In a Facebook video, David stated, “My scissors couldn’t even cut through the matting.”
Throughout the entire session, Reggie needed to be sedated. After a two-and-a-half-hour treatment, he was essentially a new dog thanks to the efforts of an entire team of AHS groomers who were able to remove his fur.
It goes without saying that everyone was moved by Reggie’s transformation! His life instantly became better after he was finally free of mats, which was invaluable!
The Transformation That Left People Speechless
Is it true that this is Reggie? Many people thought he was a completely different dog after the grooming session because he literally lost a whole pound.
This self-assured Maltese became the center of attention at the shelter after the session. But he was far from done. Reggie was neutered, given the greatest care possible by his rescuers, and treated for wounds from his matted coat.
His entire trip was enhanced by the soothing spa treatment and bubble bath he even had. Not to mention the stylish sweater he eventually acquired. Wow!
Following her life-changing makeover, Reggie was bestowed with even more incredible news. He was welcomed into a loving household shortly after his amazing metamorphosis went viral on the internet.
With a new haircut and a warm sweater, he’s now a self-assured cutie in his forever home, thanks to the incredible work of our groomer and team at our Lazin Animal Trauma Hospital, as he posted on Facebook.
Now that he is with those that love him for who he is, Reggie is content with the small pleasures in life. He is finally looking forward to living life to the fullest and pursuing new challenges every day after letting go of his past!
