Most of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut under Winter Storm Warning or Advisory as expected snow totals increase

There is a Winter Storm Warning or Advisory in effect for nearly the whole southern New England region.

The National Weather Service reports that a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 1 PM this afternoon until 7 AM Monday in parts of southern and northern Rhode Island as well as southeast Massachusetts.

Snow is predicted, however it might start out as a light downpour. Snow accumulations range from 3 to 6 inches overall.

Traveling could be somewhat challenging. Between 6 p.m. and midnight, snowfall rates of up to one per hour are feasible. Untreated roads will still be coated in snow and slick with temperatures far below freezing, but the snow will have stopped by the time of the early Monday morning commute.
