Multiple fire departments, Massachusetts State Police respond to difficult highway collision with injuries on Route 495
On Friday, the vehicle became caught in a guardrail in a highway collision that resulted in casualties. Local fire departments and Massachusetts State Police went to the scene.
near little after 11:30 a.m., Mansfield Fire Department units responded to a single-vehicle collision near the Route 140 exit ramp on Route 495 Southbound, accompanied by mutual aid from Foxborough Fire. Mansfield C31, C32, E31, R36, and Foxborough E24, L26, and R27 were among the units that were sent out.
When personnel arrived, they discovered an SUV that had struck and become stuck in the railing.
The guardrail pierced the side of the car, pinning the driver within, but the passenger was swiftly and safely removed. Using specialist extrication equipment, firefighters labored about forty-five minutes to carefully release the driver.
The female traveler was sent to Sturdy Memorial Hospital after suffering minor injuries. The male motorist was sent to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Fire Chief Justin Desrosiers, “This was a very difficult extrication, and our crews from both towns worked seamlessly together to ensure the best possible outcome for the victims.” I applaud every member of the on-scene staff for their professionalism and knowledge in managing this challenging situation.
The Massachusetts State Police are investigating the collision.
