NYPD Officer Assaulted in Harlem During Robbery Confrontation

In Harlem early Saturday morning, an NYPD officer was punched in the face while confronting a suspect involved in a robbery, according to police. The incident unfolded just after 1 a.m. when officers were searching for an individual accused of stealing a chain from a man near Malcolm X Boulevard and 125th Street.

The robbery occurred inside a check cashing business, and the suspect, identified as Tynjah Patterson, fled the scene. As Patterson was confronted by a female officer on the street, he allegedly struck her in the face before fleeing.

A significant police response ensued, with officers quickly locating Patterson hiding under a car on 126th Street. The Bronx resident now faces multiple charges, including four counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
