The couple was expecting a new litter of puppies from their two Pitties, Pearl and Harley. However, Tooley and Fucich discovered something startling while visiting the happy mother and her children: one of the infants was truly green!
The Cutest Intruder
It was the strangest and loveliest sight I’ve ever seen.
Since the pup was the first to be born, Tooley first failed to notice that her fur was green. When Pearl had another one, the owner made the startling discovery that her first-born was, in fact, an intruder in terms of color!
Although she was the same size and shared the same pink nose and ears, her hue was different. How about that?
Both Tooley and Fucich were stunned by what they had just witnessed and were unsure of how to react. They were curious since this was the first time they had seen a puppy with such an unusual coat color.
The couple from Mississippi went straight to Google. After hours of investigation, they discovered that biliverdin, a green bile pigment, was responsible for the staining of their pup’s fur while still in the womb.
This uncommon coat color phenomena was finally caused by the very high level of biliverdin in the pup’s birth sac. Fortunately, there is absolutely no danger associated with the illness.
The pair chose to cooperate and inject some humor into the situation after being taken aback by their dog’s unusual coat.
They gave their pet a funny name, Fiona, after Princess Fiona from the Shrek film. Isn’t that the coolest association ever, or what?
