When the 41-year-old Florida woman saw the victim strolling with her divorced husband, she allegedly struck her with her Volkswagen Jetta, leading to her arrest.
Authorities said that Christdon Reese was arrested on Friday and charged with one count each of probation violation, trespassing, and attempted first-degree murder.
The victim and her boyfriend made a number of purchases on April 10 after walking to a Circle K gas station in Auburndale, Florida, located in the 4900 block of U.S. Highway 92 East, according to a news release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. About 50 miles southwest of Orlando is where the store is located.
The woman and her boyfriend were crossing Old Dixie Highway on their way to a friend’s house after leaving the store when the boyfriend allegedly observed Reese driving past them in a white Volkswagen Jetta headed south on the same route.
Reese allegedly chose to use her automobile as a weapon against the victim because she was upset about seeing her estranged husband with someone else.
“Reese then used the parking lot of the nearby Family Dollar store to make a U-turn and head north, accelerating quickly in their direction,” the sheriff’s office stated. “The victim began to run down a driveway and Reese pursued her, striking her with her car. Reese then turned around in the driveway and fled north on Old Dixie Hwy at a high rate of speed.”
According to the Circle K’s surveillance tape, Reese was seen driving south before turning around and heading north after spotting the pair.
The victim was found when authorities arrived on the site. Polk County Fire and Rescue emergency medical professionals took her to a nearby hospital.
She had two spinal fractures, according to follow-up X-rays, but doctors said she should fully recover, the sheriff’s office stated.
“Domestic related calls are some of the worst calls to which we respond,” Sheriff Grady Judd stated. “When people allow their emotions to take over it can result in injury or even death. This victim was injured but luckily she survived the ordeal. Christdon Reese needs to learn how to control her temper, and maybe some cooling off in the jail will help.”
According to the authorities, Reese was on probation at the time of the suspected attempted murder because of a retail theft allegation from 2023 in Osceola County, which led to the probation violation accusation.
The owner of the house on Dixie Highway where the incident occurred also told investigators that Reese was charged with trespassing because she lacked authorization to be on his property.
According to internet records, Reese is presently being held without bond at Central County Jail.
