Pup Who Keeps Getting Returned To Shelter Has No Idea Why Nobody Likes Him

Being a pup is not a simple job, despite appearances.

This is particularly true for the less fortunate dogs. While some of them end themselves in uncomfortable shelters, others are compelled to spend their days on the chilly and unforgiving streets.

Additionally, the shelter workers can only do so much to make their furry friends as comfortable as possible, despite their best efforts. Many animals experience anxiety to the point of depression because animal shelters can be noisy and overpowering.

Rascal is experiencing precisely that.

Is There Something Wrong With Me?

Rascal has struggled since an Orange County rescue left him at a boarding facility in Rowland Heights, California.

He has been staying in a kennel for the last two years, hoping that one day a caring family will come see him and adopt him. Regretfully, nothing of the sort occurred.

Due to a lack of alternatives, the California shelter decided to transfer Rascal and the other puppies to a nearby shelter, where his future would undoubtedly be in doubt.

Fortunately, Samantha Redline founded Kennel Eviction Rescue (KER), a nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue and treatment of abused animals. After taking Rascal in, she has been putting forth a lot of effort to find him a permanent home.

Easy Does It

One woman saw that Rascaland had started working with him after only a few days. They even had a professional trainer and a couple home introductions.

According to Redline’s interview, “at first, everything seemed to be going well. She was following a crate training schedule and had even bought him a flirt pole to get some energy out as well.”

The house was just right for him. The woman spent a whole day with the dog, including taking him on a hike. Unfortunately, after the adopter sent the KER a message saying that she just did not have time for him, Rascal’s entire world would fall apart.

We were taken aback because Rascal enjoys sitting with you and settles in better than any of our other pets. Though he loses interest in toys by themselves, he can be rather lively and enjoys chasing toys, especially on the flirt pole. He walks incredibly well and is an excellent trekking companion. “He’s generally a good companion,” she remarked.

Rascal has been unable to get over his disappointment ever since he was brought back to the shelter. On his first day, he paced his kennel as though he was waiting for someone to come get him.

He even began to bark, something he had never done before.

The shelter posted this beautiful boy’s tale on their TikTok page in the hopes of helping him find a forever home.

Rascal needs a home, ideally one where there are no other animals or just caged creatures like rabbits or reptiles. He gets along nicely with both sexes, but he really requires someone who is patient. He is a little older—6 years old—so he isn’t as energetic, but he still requires playing and daily walks, she said.
