Pup Who Spent 1000 Days At Shelter In California Loved To Greet People But Then Everything Changed One Day
Even the most lively hearts are shut down by isolation. Being ignored by everyone is really difficult to deal with, no matter how hard you try to be a social butterfly. Unfortunately, there concludes Rex’s life tale!
For years, this adorable Chihuahua mix waited for a chance in a California shelter. He started to lose hope when that didn’t occur, even after a thousand days.
Rex moved to the corner of his kennel and decided to do nothing rather than welcome everyone who came by his kennel like he used to.
Rex Gave Up Hope That Someone Would Adopt Him
Rex was saved from a high-euthanasia shelter in Los Angeles, California, three years ago by the Vanderpump Dog Foundation.
He had previously been deemed a snarly dog with behavioral problems that nearly resulted in his demise. That was prevented by Vanderpump Dogs.
Vanderpump Dogs posted on Facebook, “We got Rex just in time to give him a second chance at finding his forever home because dogs with behavioral issues are at higher risk of being euthanized in shelters.”
This cuddly boi gradually recovered from his previous ordeal. Rex quickly started interacting with people and other dogs, and with the help of his trainers, he quickly became a completely different dog.
He greeted everyone who entered his kennel and waited patiently by the entrances throughout the day. Regretfully, Rex started to lose hope after going through the same routine for over a thousand days.
In a tragic video, Nima Nasseri, a Hollywood agent and dog lover who created a TikTok account to give voice to underappreciated shelter pets, highlighted Rex’s decline.
No one ever picks Rex, so he no longer comes over to greet people. He has spent more than a thousand days here. According to the video, it has been so long that his facial hair is beginning to grow gray.
For three long years, Rex has been here. His spirit seemed worn down, as if he had given up on ever having a loving home, and it was painful to watch him. Despite his reputation for being erratic, he scented my hand when I first stretched out to him. According to one of the volunteers, he may be eight or nine years old now, and his face is beginning to turn grey. Really, all he needs is a kind, patient owner who can provide him with a secure, caring home for the years he has left. This dog only needs patience and love. UPDATED: I just uploaded a video update on Rex! #rescuedog #animallover #shelterdog #do-glover
Hundreds of thousands of people shared Rex’s tale after watching the video a few days later. His narrative took a very unexpected turn, giving Rex the optimism he had been lacking all along.
And the outcomes were fantastic!
The Long-Awaited Miracle
Nasseri was aware of the power of social media, but he was completely taken aback by Rex’s case! After sharing the video on Sunday, Rex received dozens of applications anxious to take him home in only a few days.
He had a place to live by Friday. And it was the ideal one, boy!
After we uploaded him on Sunday, Nasseri revealed in an update post that by Friday, he was cuddled up in a blanket on his new couch with his new mother!
THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU! Rex was literally saved by every retweet, share, and remark! He has been saving lives for nearly three years! Not a single application! After we posted him on Sunday, he was cuddled up in a blanket with his new mother on his new couch by Friday! I’m grateful that @The_Mouse2021 saved Rex! We are grateful to @Vanderpump pups for being a fantastic rescue that consistently finds and rescues pups like Rex from the shelter! Shannon, thank you for saving his life! We are grateful to Chad Paola Hannah Pandora and the entire team at Vanderpump for their tireless efforts on a daily basis to support canines like Rex (and Sugar!). The only reason Rex and his mother were able to meet and fulfill their inescapable fate was because of everyone who liked, commented, and shared Rex’s post. Rex’s life was truly saved by the overwhelming love that is emanating around him. #rescuedog #doglover #animallover #blessings
In the update video that Nasseri shared on TikTok, Rex is seen riding to his forever home in the rear of the car in a little cage.

Rex’s tale is the ideal illustration of what social media can accomplish when used effectively. Rex is now prepared to turn the page and start a brand-new, exciting journey in life as he has a forever home and a mother who loves him unconditionally!
Rex, good luck! You most definitely deserve it!
