Puppy Born With 6 Legs Wanted A Chance, So Rescuers From Oklahoma Gave Him Hope

You’ll say, “Now that I’ve met Skipper, I’ve seen it all.”

Puppies with tails on their foreheads, pups with more ears than they actually need, and other uncommon traits are among the oddities I’ve seen.

Six legs, though? Even I was surprised by it!

Upon the birth of Skipper, the Aussie-Border Collie hybrid, experts anticipated a number of issues with this young child.

However, they were not prepared for Skipper’s surprise!

With more pieces of herself to adore and only no loving human to take care of her, the most odd puppy in the world turned out to be pawfectly great and healthy.

A Pup Named Miracle

The day Skipper was born will always be remembered by the employees of Neel Veterinary Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was different from each of her eight siblings from the Aussie-Border Collie mix litter.

From the moment of her birth, Skipper was unique.

Sadly, her mother turned her away since that’s what animals do to puppies they perceive to be unusual.

However, that didn’t stop Skipper or Miracle from calling her to show everyone that, despite only being a few days old, she is beating all the odds.

Skipper was the first puppy to be born ALIVE with these abnormalities, according to a social media statement from the Neel Veterinary staff:

Monocephalus dipygus and monocephalus rachipagus dibrachius tetrapus are congenital conjoining syndromes that simply mean she has one head and chest cavity but two pelvic areas, two lower urinary tracts, two reproductive systems, two tails, and six legs, among other things. She probably had a littermate, but they did not split up while she was still in the womb. Along her spine, she also exhibits symptoms of spina bifida.

Despite her exceptional condition, Skipper was a healthy dog, according to additional examinations of the pup.She didn’t experience any pain or discomfort.

Despite how odd that may sound, Skipper was a typical puppy.

Dr. Neel stated, “We want to give her the chance because she acts like a strong, healthy puppy.” She is quite strong, which makes me very happy! You know, she’s sort of the underdog. You’re cheering her on.

Although the cause of Skipper’s disease is complex, veterinarians think it stems from two embryos that failed to separate in the uterus. She is a puppy with a couple of doubles, not a conjoined twin.

To everyone’s amazement, all six of her legs appear to be functional!

Many people gave themselves permission to comment on social media when Skipper’s birth was announced, saying that she shouldn’t be living and that the hospital should put her to sleep for good because some pets aren’t intended to be saved.

Despite all of Skipper’s diagnoses and her extra baggage, one man disproved them all and accepted her.

Skipper s Journey

Despite her mother’s rejection, Skipper, the most unique puppy Oklahoma has ever seen, did find a household.

She received two amazing human pawrents, a pair with prior experience with dogs with diagnosis. To ensure that everyone was aware of Skipper’s progress, his journey was constantly shared on social media.

Unfortunately, Skipper’s condition turned out to be much worse than anyone had initially believed.

As if she didn’t already have too many diagnoses, Skipper was also diagnosed with hydrocephalus almost a month after she had moved into her new home and learned how to train a dog.

As a result, Skipper would need to have several, frequent examinations, including CT scans, in addition to her usual physical treatment. Since a large portion of the puppy formula was absorbed into her lungs, the young rock star also struggled to consume it.

Skipper was treated for a number of ailments at Neel Animal Hospital over the course of several days. It turns out that Skipper’s health was way too precarious, even though everyone thought she would be alright.

Her housemates made every effort to generate funds for her medical care and give her the coziest possible environment. They sacrificed everything for this small but powerful dog.

Skipper closed her eyes for the final time about eight months after her birth. For poor Skipper, a combination of her diagnoses proved too lethal.

We are incredibly appreciative of everyone who has helped us get through this and provide her with the best life possible! Our hearts will always hold her. According to Skipper’s owners, she crossed the rainbow bridge in the morning.

Skipper made it clear to everyone who didn’t trust her how mistaken they were.

Indeed, she truly demonstrated them.

Peace be with you, Skipper. I am aware that you have finally found happiness and that all of the other puppies have welcomed you, just as they should have from the beginning.
