The REAL ID Act, which requires a REAL ID or another authorized federal document to board domestic flights and enter secure federal facilities, will go into effect on May 7.
By going to REALID.dmv.ca.gov, filling out the online application, and attaching the required paperwork, Californians can apply for a REAL ID.
After beginning online, the procedure should take roughly fifteen minutes in the clinic.
For DMV operations that don’t require an in-person visit, such as renewing a driver’s license or vehicle registration, the DMV encourages users to use online services.
Customers can opt in and create a secure online account at dmv.ca.gov to get paperless renewal notices.
On most weekdays, the DMV office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; on Wednesdays, it is open from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Getting a REAL ID is crucial for Californians who need to travel domestically or visit government institutions as the REAL ID Act’s enforcement draws near.
