Record 5,363 NYPD Officers Injured in 2023, Including Over 1,200 in Suspect Encounters in The Last Three Months!

Department data show that a record 5,363 police officers were hurt in fights with suspects in the last three months of 2023, including 1,286 officers who were hurt in the last quarter. Statistics show that 135 police officers were hurt in fights with criminals in the 40th Precinct in Mott Haven, the Bronx. It was the most dangerous place to fight.
There were 129 injuries in the 75th Precinct in Brooklyn, which is next. It covers East New York and Cypress Hills. Three more Bronx precincts, the 46th (128) 44th (126), and 47th (117) made up the Top 5 most dangerous places for the city’s best. One law enforcement source said, “There aren’t any real surprises here.
All of these commands are very busy, which makes criminals more likely to fight.” Experts told The Post that the dangerous and upsetting trend is made up of a mix of things: radical protests, a flood of criminal immigrants, bail reform, anti-police rhetoric, and prosecutors who are too soft on crime.
A police officer was attacked by a group of people, and the president of that group, Patrick Hendry, called it a “full-blown epidemic.” He went on to say, “Even the simplest summonses are turning into full-on fights.” Once and for all, our justice system needs to send a clear message: if you attack a police officer, you will go to jail.

Four thousand eight hundred and twenty-four uniformed officers were hurt in attacks by suspects in 2022, up from three thousand nine hundred and three in 2021. In 2023, there were 5,363 attacks, which was 13% more than the year before (4,737).
Because of the war against cops, officers are looking for better jobs. During the George Floyd protests and riots in May 2020, 50-year-old former NYPD Lt. Rob Corbett was beaten and cut up. As he tried to keep the peace near the Barclay Center in Brooklyn and then in Clinton Hill, a flying brick hit him in the face.
After 25 years on the job, Corbett retired in April 2022 and quickly moved to Florida, where he is now a police officer near Orlando. He had to get stitches and a lot of dental work. The NYPD job was no longer possible for Corbett because of the “state of the laws,” which includes changes to the law and other things. He told The Post this week. “That means it wasn’t the job itself, it was where I was doing it.”
