It’s never easy to win over a dog who has never interacted with humans. It takes a lot of love, perseverance, and dedication.
The Virginia-based Hope For Life Rescue team was up to the challenge.
They jumped at the chance to assist a shelter when they requested them to take in a scared mother dog named Lovebug and her fourteen newborn kids.
Lovebug, who was rescued from the streets, had a deep mistrust of people.
In an effort to show them affection and earn their trust, the staff members embraced the dog family.
The Mama Dog And Her Babies Are Safe
Lovebug initially refused to allow the rescue workers to touch her or her pups. Every time she saw the personnel coming toward them, she was overcome with panic.
She was cowering in the corner over her two-day-old infants when I first entered the room. She was terrified. One of her rescuers told The Dodo, “She was shaking and didn’t let us get too close to her or the babies.”
Sadness filled the hearts of the rescuers.
They established a private room at Hope Center for Lovebug and her puppies because they were determined to provide the best care possible for the dog and her offspring.
The undernourished mother dog found it challenging to care for fourteen fur kids.Her rescuers made sure she ate wholesome meals because they were worried about her weight.
One of the helpers, Miss Susie, prepared chicken for Lovebug each day.
Lovebug Realizes That She s Loved
In order to identify which puppy required supplements, Lovebug let the staff to weigh and touch her puppies a few days later. Although she didn’t let them to pet her, the mother dog began to trust her rescuers.
The generous individuals persisted in helping her and gave her the time she required.
Lovebug conducted socialization sessions with the volunteers and staff. They slept with her on the floor, talked to her, and fed her by hand.
Lovebug’s extraordinary caring for her puppies touched them.
The infants flourished rapidly and chased their mother for additional milk. Playing with the puppies and learning about their characteristics was enjoyable for the rescuers.
Lovebug allowed her rescuers to caress her after realizing she was secure and loved.
Her fur pups got their forever homes once they were old enough to be adopted.
Lovebug could concentrate on her own needs. Her rescuers were aware of how much affection and time she required. They kissed her endlessly, hoping they could allay her anxieties.
The mother dog began to gain weight shortly after all of her puppies were adopted. In order to interact with her, the volunteers kept coming to see her. They read her books a much.
Getting Her Happy Ending
Lovebug was put in a caring foster home to regain human trust.
She received a lot of love and attention from her foster family. Lovebug’s foster dog brothers helped her regain her confidence, and she was happy to spend time with them.
The adorable puppy’s eyes gleamed as she began to smile. Lovebug loved soaking up all of her foster parents’ affection and cuddling with them.
So she set off to find her happily ever after.
When Lovebug met her forever parents, her pleasure was complete. They fell in love with the doggo right away.
They changed Lovebug’s name to Ruby and she moved into her forever home. She is incredibly loved and adored by her parents.
In Virginia, Ruby has the time of her life. She enjoys playing with her furry siblings, Beamer and Charlotte, and going camping with her family.
