When SA Animal Care Services employees arrived early for work after a particularly rainy night in San Antonio, they discovered an enigmatic green tarp in their parking lot.
They were instantly alarmed and went to look into the tarp. Their hearts sunk slightly when they lifted the sopping wet tarp and discovered what was underneath.
Six eyes stared at them in complete bewilderment and fear.
A Trio Of Dogs Abandoned In The Rain
Two German Shepherds and a little Chihuahua were left in cages and exposed to the rain.
Under this green piece of plastic, three helpless puppies were cruelly abandoned in terrible conditions. They were utterly afraid and found it incomprehensible that someone they probably thought of as family would desert them in this manner.
The City of San Antonio Animal Care Services’ public relations manager, Lisa Norwood, told The Dodo:
The staff promptly called for assistance and took these three frightened and wet canines to the shelter as soon as they noticed the dogs were beneath the trap.
They promptly provided food and water to the dogs and moved them into a warm area.
Peaches and Cyrus were the names of two German Shepherd dogs. Gabby was the name given to the small Chihuahua puppy.
Finding Their Forever Home
According to what Norwood told The Dodo, Peaches and Gabby appeared somewhat more composed and manageable. Cyrus took a while to get to know everyone because he was so terrified by the entire situation.
The entire experience had left poor Cyrus quite devastated and traumatized, and he just needed more time to collect himself and understand everything.
San Antonio’s stray animal problem is gradually getting out of hand, and every day more and more animals are being left at animal shelters.
On their Instagram profile, they posted:
Adorable puppies left in the rain under a cover, stray animals frightening local kids, and shelter kennels overflowing with undesirable animals This is only a small sample of the daily challenges that Animal Care Services faces. This is how our city’s animal shelter actually operates.
San Antonio Animal Care Services was aware that the dogs couldn’t remain in their shelter for very long due to capacity issues and an overabundance of strays.
Fortunately, Peaches and Gabby found homes right away.
The German Shepherd Rescue of NY, Inca is a non-profit organization that rescues GSDs from euthanasia lists; Cyrus, on the other hand, need more time to recover and find his final home.
Shortly after, the adorable boy, Cyrus, was also adopted, according to the GSRNY’s Facebook page.
We are overjoyed that these adorable canines have at last found their happily ever after, and we hope that they won’t have to endure this fear or be abandoned ever again.
