Severely Matted Dog Could Barely See Through His ‘Dreadlocks’ When Rescuers Found Him

A rescuer’s job is not an easy one. It includes the complete process that follows the rescue as well as the actual act of rescue.

Dogs require proper care and surroundings, which often entails a healthy diet, veterinary care, and socialization training. Sometimes, after being neglected on the streets, dogs even need intensive grooming care.

Exhibit A is Maurice, a small boi who was rescued from the streets of Los Angeles, California! His coat was so matted when he was originally discovered that he could hardly see anything.

He Was Found Just In Time

While on another rescue effort, Suzette Hall, the creator of Logan’s Legacyrescue from Irvine, California, received a troubling call. She was alerted by her friend Sandra about a very matted dog that was straying about the neighborhood and in urgent need of assistance.

Hall’s other volunteers, Karla, Yamileth, and Nunez Akyscouted the area because she was unable to go there right away.

They saw the dog, who was subsequently given the name Maurice, sheltering beneath a car. His face was covered in layers of matted fur, and he was very anxious. He could hardly see anything.

Hall stated in a Facebook post, “Poor baby with dreadlocks and a heavy past of never knowing love.”

The rescuers claimed that Maurice and her homeless owner lived on the streets. He hardly resembled a dog at all, and his life was nothing but pain and disregard. In addition to all of this, Maurice was clearly frightened and distrustful of others.

He hid fearfully deep under a car and remained there rather than jumping into the arms of his rescuers.

Since the owner claimed that he had been homeless for a long time and returned without allowing anyone to touch him, I feel deeply that he endured a great deal of suffering at the hands of a homeless person, Aky remarked on Facebook.

The rescuers tried to persuade Maurice to go by saying encouraging things for a while. When that didn’t work, they gained his trust by giving him some delicious snacks.

Gradually, he relented and allowed the three gentlemen to secure a leash around his neck.

As they say, the rest is history!

In addition to leaving the region without incident, Maurice and his rescuers set out on a voyage that would change his life.

A Brand-New Dog With The Cutest Underbite

At a nearby veterinary facility, Hall and the group gave Maurice a veterinary examination. The final step after undergoing the required therapy was to shave off Maurice’s matted fur and give him the appearance he so richly earned.

Maurice soon looked like a brand-new puppy after a very long grooming process and a committed team of workers. It turns out that a hauntingly attractive puppy with the cutest underbite was hiding beneath layers of knots and tangled fur!

Following their encounter with Maurice, Hall and the rescuers were ecstatic. He was a totally different dog today, prepared to face life as he deserved to be treated.

A brand-new life is beginning today. In an update post, Hall said, “A past stripped away.”

Hall made it possible for Maurice to be placed in a foster home, where he will be showered with love and attention.
