Cybersecdn– Berks County, Pennsylvania, was rocked by a disturbing incident in the early hours of Friday morning, resulting in the arrest of a 39-year-old Florida man, Travis Jerell Pugh, on charges of murder. The tragedy unfolded at the Love’s Travel Stop located on Mountain Road in Upper Bern Township, where a dispute between Pugh and James Alexander Hilton, a resident of South Hampton, New Jersey, escalated into violence.
According to Pennsylvania State Police reports, the altercation erupted in the rear parking lot of the truck stop at approximately 2:48 a.m. Hilton, aged 40, was assisting another truck driver with parking when the confrontation occurred. The situation quickly escalated, leading to Pugh allegedly firing fatal shots at Hilton before fleeing the scene in a tractor-trailer.
The aftermath of the incident saw law enforcement personnel descending upon the area to secure the scene and initiate a thorough investigation. Despite the swift response, Hilton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Berks County Coroner’s Office at 5:12 a.m.
The ensuing manhunt for Pugh led to a dramatic arrest by a state trooper near exit 45 on I-78 westbound at approximately 3:31 a.m. Pugh was apprehended without further incident, bringing a sense of relief to the community while raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
In a startling development, Pugh now faces an array of serious charges, including first-degree murder, third-degree murder, possession of a firearm without a permit, aggravated assault, simple assault, tampering with evidence, disorderly conduct, harassment, and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.
