Never undervalue the transformational potential of love.
Stella was a hopeless case when she was discovered on the streets of Atlanta, Georgia. This beautiful gray and white doggo girl was deeply affected by her traumatic background.
Every time someone attempted to approach her, she would bark in the most devastating way and lost all faith in people. Then, with the appropriate person and countless attempts to assist her, Stella set off on a voyage that would change her life.
This is her tale!
Stella s Heartbreaking Past
After being brutally abandoned by her owner, Stellar was seen wandering the streets of Atlanta by a neighbor. After many years of being exploited for breeding, she was thrown out when her owner could no longer utilize her.
This timid girl was taken by animal control and was eventually scheduled for euthanasia. Stella was unable to integrate into a new household and socialize appropriately due to the numerous scars on her soul.
The kind folks from Atlanta, Georgia’s LifeLine Animal Project then took over!
Stella was taken away and given the opportunity to start over. The volunteers persisted in helping her in spite of her tragic past. They were able to find Stella a home until she was ready to be placed in a caring home with the assistance of their partners, Fly With Me Animal Rescue.
Then came the miracle in the guise of a hooman!
Just the morning after having the most bizarre dream, Krista Keough came across this adorable girl’s photo on the rescue’s Instagram.
When I was running on the beach with my sister and her dog one night, I looked down and saw a gray and white dog; this is how she entered my life, Kirsta told GeoBeats Animals.
She realized right once that she had to meet Stella since fate had brought them together!
After meeting for the first time, Stella and Krista fell in love right away. For some reason, Stella placed her head in Krista’s arms as she knelt in front of her, seemingly expressing that she was now her hooman.
After returning home, the two began a new life together.
Healing Journey
Krista made the decision to postpone Stella’s meeting with Apollo, her second dog, for the first few weeks. Stella was still very traumatized, so she took care to make her as comfortable as possible.
Every time she went outside or saw a possible threat coming her way, she let out the most pitiful bark. She pretended to be Stella’s protector but, in reality, she was attempting to get away from the terrible history that followed her everywhere.
Then Stella’s conduct began to change after a lot of effort to adapt her and some love!
Apollo and she became close friends once she warmed up to him. The two quickly grew inseparable after growing accustomed to one another’s company.
Beneath her sad heart was a playful, vivacious girl who was ready to play and perform endless zoomies in the yard. Nevertheless, Stella would struggle to adapt to new situations and would had outbursts that were visible.
The book Dear Diary, It’s Me, Stella, which chronicles Stella’s tragic journey through life and her moments of despair, was written by her mother as a result of Stella’s recovery process.
Krista aimed to increase awareness of rescue dogs and their unwavering spirit despite the terrible experiences they endure by writing the book.
Even though Stella still has to deal with the past occasionally, her mother’s unending love is what keeps her going and allows her to live the best life possible with her family today. Her mother’s lap is now the safest place for her, and she never, ever feels alone or abandoned again.
And shouldn’t every dog in the world have that?
