Breeding is the way that many dogs enter the world, and there is nothing wrong with that. That is the case, though, if the breeder is an experienced professional.
Unfortunately, a lot of people breed dogs these days purely for financial gain, and they frequently do it incorrectly.
Since many dogs born that way have health problems that last a lifetime, the effects can be absolutely devastating.
That was best demonstrated to the staff of one New York City shelter when they rescued a malformed dog that had been the result of alleged backyard breeding.
A Miserable Life
For those of you who are unaware, someone who breeds dogs without the necessary expertise in the breeding process is known as a backyard breeder. Naturally, the product is typically a puppy with significant health problems and malformations.
Such a puppy was once saved in the heart of New York City by the rescuers from Animal Care Centers of New York City (NYCACC).
In the October 22, 2024, Instagram video shared by @nycacc, the sad eight-week-old puppy named Eeyore was so malformed from the careless breeding method that he was unable to walk by himself.
According to the NYCACC, Eeyore’s front legs are bent, making it difficult for him to walk normally. They also mentioned that he has a non-contagious kind of mange that makes his skin look crusty.
All of this is very tragic, but fortunately, the shelter saved him, and he will receive all the care he needs.
He is currently receiving the attention he requires after being discovered unaccompanied and unable to walk, but his journey is far from complete. The shelter wrote in the video’s caption.
A Cycle Of Suffering
Unfortunately, backyard breeding does not only harm Eeyore and the puppies that share his fate.Since they are necessary for the birth of the new dogs, the female dogs play a crucial role in this entire process.
They are constantly used to give birth to fresh puppies during that entire process, which is not something that comes naturally to them. Even worse, they are frequently thrown out like trash when the breeder no longer needs them.
Deformed puppies and abused female dogs who are abandoned on the streets and unable to find a home and a caring family are the results of this vicious cycle of pain.
Another dog named Pun, whose destiny is similar to Eeyore’s, is evidence of the several such situations that the NYCACC is most familiar with.
They added: Both Eeyore and Pun’s stories emphasize the long-lasting agony and suffering from careless breeding. Pun, another dog in our care, has a similar bow-legged stance coupled with airway malformations, an underbite, and a skin infection.
Darkness and tragic outcomes abound in this tale. But there is also good news: Eeyore has a prospective adopter lined up, and after he recovers, he will be with a loving family in a cozy home.
