This Woman Was Happy After Saving A Litter Of Puppies Only To Realize They Were Something Else Entirely
Heartland Humane Society coordinator Jessie Tussing has a long history of helping animals in need, and she has encountered many unique rescue missions. But this one really did win the prize.
Jessie received a call one Friday night informing her that a litter of puppies had been left behind a barn. She got into her car without thinking and headed out to help the puppies.
When Jessie and her two teenage children arrived at the scene, they wasted no time in starting to look for the puppies.
They entered the ancient barn and began searching every nook and cranny, using a flashlight as a guide. After removing one of the floorboards with the homeowner’s consent, they discovered the puppies.
Some Very Strange pups
Jessie noticed something odd about the puppies when she took them into the daylight and somewhere safe.
One of Jessie’s daughters was astonished to learn about this unique dog breed after she chose to Google it.
This was a pack of baby coyotes, not a strange species of dog!
Jessie concluded that returning the babies to their original location would be the best course of action after consulting with a few specialists and learning about the local wildlife center’s coyote policy.
Additionally, she saw that their bellies were full, indicating that the mother must be close by because she had just fed them.
They informed the homeowner of his new occupants and carefully replaced them.
Being very kind, the homeowner chose to leave the small family until they could find a new home in the wild where they belonged.
Know What To Do
Let us use this incident as a caution not to pet every cute tiny animal we come across.
Please keep a distance if you do see baby coyotes. Their mother is probably nearby and will be back shortly.
However, get in touch with your neighborhood wildlife rehabilitation or animal control facility if you think they may have become orphans. Since they are specialists with training, they will know just what to do.
