These days, seeing an abandoned dog strolling the street by itself is regrettably not surprising, especially to those whose lives are centered around animal rescue.
When a kindhearted rescuer from Houston, Texas, saw a discarded puppy by itself on a busy road one day, she became convinced of this.

This kind woman was so moved by this sight that she made the decision to do everything in her power to make him smile again.
Determined To Save Him
The founder of the nonprofit Houston, Texas-based rescue organization Streetheart Project, Kristin Erwin, was aware that saving an abandoned puppy she had recently come across by the side of the road would not be simple.
Nevertheless, she made the decision to use every resource at her disposal because she was adamant about helping him. All Kristin could do at the time was gently call the dog in the hopes that he would respond because she was unprepared for the rescue that day.
Her endeavor was in vain since, as she could have predicted, this dog, named Eggnog, no longer trusted people as a result of what had occurred to him. Kristin was concerned for Eggnog’s future because he was so terrified and perplexed that he finally took off.
Despite her disappointment, Kristin refused to give up and returned the following day, but this time she had a more calculated approach.
This tiny kid was racing down a busy road when we saw him. He appeared disoriented and perplexed. I made an effort to gain his trust, but he showed little interest. Two days after I had to give up and go, I ran into him again. I brought food with me this time. He was still shaking when we got him home, but he let me to pet and handle him. The following day, when she got there, Kristin had a trap and some delectable food that she thought Eggnog would be unable to refuse. In an attempt to draw the dog in, she placed the food inside a trap and left it open.
Finally, after a while, a hungry Eggnog approached the opening trap gently. Upon seeing that no one was there, he entered and began to eat.
Finally, Kristin managed to get the dog to safety as the trap door closed.
No Longer A Scared Dog
After successfully saving Eggnog from the street, Kristin was ecstatic, but she realized that they still had obstacles to overcome once they got home.
When she took Eggnog to his new foster home, he did not act aggressively, but his terrified expression and trembling physique made him stand out.
Being a skilled rescuer, Kristin realized right away what she needed to do: she needed to be patient with him and give him the time he needed to regain his trust.
After several challenging days, it eventually occurred. Amazingly, Eggnog began to warm up to his savior. He understood that he was protected and that this stranger was there to assist him repair his spirit rather than hurt him like some others did.
A few more days later, Eggnog’s smile reappeared, and he was a completely different dog, wagging his tail wildly, grinning, and following his new favorite human everywhere.
Even though his future is still up in the air, Eggnog is unquestionably headed in the correct direction—one that will be filled with kind people like Kristin rather than the icy ones who abandoned him on a desolate street and destroyed his heart.
