“Her presence will be missed immensely”; Plymouth County woman killed in pedestrian crash being remembered
Following her death from injuries received in a pedestrian collision, a woman from Plymouth County is being honored.
Just after 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Brockton Police received a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle vs pedestrian collision near North Main and Battles Streets, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. A female victim was found on the road by Brockton Police and emergency medical workers. After being taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, the woman was declared dead from her wounds. She has been identified as Brockton resident Bettie Etienne, 37.
To start the investigation, Brockton Police called Massachusetts State Police Detectives who were assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
According to preliminary information, Etienne was hit by a driver in a Dodge Caravan while she was crossing the street. According to video footage, a red hand was illuminated on the pedestrian control signal, while the traffic light was green for vehicles to continue traveling along North Main Street. The driver of the Dodge Caravan, a male 20-year-old, stayed on the scene.
A GoFundMe page set up by her company claims that Etienne was en route to her job at Horizon Vert in Randolph.
Since arriving in the US, Bettie has been employed at Horizon Vert Naturals. She illuminated every area she was in, first in production and later in the office. Bettie was quiet, but you could always count on her to make you smile and give you confidence that everything would go smoothly in the office. Her absence will be greatly felt in the tiny, close-knit workplace.
Detectives from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services, and Brockton Police are still working the case.
