After serving 14 years for child molestation at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston, Rhode Island, Jacinto, also known as Jorge Jacinto Masariego, was arrested right away after his release.

According to Patricia H. Hyde, interim Field Office Director for ERO Boston, Mr. Jacinto was found guilty in 2012 of four charges of felony first-degree child molestation and five counts of felony second-degree child molestation in Rhode Island by the Providence Superior Court. We are lucky that the Adult Correctional Institution complied with the immigration detainer that ERO Boston filed against him while he was serving his term for those offenses.

The Providence/Bristol County Superior Court found Jacinto guilty of nine counts of child molestation on September 25, 2012, and sentenced him to 40 years in prison after he was arrested on February 4, 2011. Twenty years of his sentence were suspended by the court.

On the day they arrested Jacinto for breaking the Immigration and Nationality Act, ERO Boston agents gave him a notice to appear before an immigration court from the Department of Justice. Until his immigration hearing, he will stay in ICE custody.

The Attorney General’s Office of Rhode Island claims that between December 1, 2008, and January 10, 2011, Jacinto repeatedly sexually assaulted three young boys.

Jacinto got to know his victims by becoming friends with their parents through a Providence neighborhood church. After becoming friends with the parents, he would go to their houses for get-togethers, bring toys and presents for his victims, and then molest the young boys there.

One of the victims’ fathers saw his son acting strangely, and when he questioned him, the youngster told him about the abuse. After the youngster was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Day One and Providence Police representatives were contacted to speak with the victim and look into the claims. Jacinto was found to have molested two other youngsters during the course of the investigation.
