Now former Massachusetts postal employee sentenced to probation for stealing mail he was supposed to deliver

Boston A former U.S. Postal Service employee who stole goods he was in charge of delivering was punished in Worcester federal court.

Judge Margaret R. Guzman of the U.S. District Court sentenced William J. Paige, 35, of Duxbury to two years of probation, according to the Massachusetts Department of Justice. Additionally, Paige was mandated to reimburse the victims $5,119.

Paige entered a guilty plea to three charges of mail theft by a Postal Service employee in September 2024.

In Whitinsville, Paige was employed by the USPS as a letter carrier. Paige took more over $5,000 worth of collector’s coins and other goods from deliveries he was tasked with delivering between January and February of 2022.

The statement was made by Matthew Modafferi, Special Agent in Charge of the USPS Office of Inspector General, Northeast Area Field Office, and US Attorney Joshua S. Levy. The case was prosecuted by Worcester Branch Office Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen M. Noto.
