A Fall River man was arrested by various agencies and is now facing a number of accusations.

Detective Don Cormier looked into the incident this month of two masked people breaking into a Somerset resident’s house by kicking in the front door and then extorting money from the residents, according to Somerset Police. According to the evidence acquired, the burglary was committed by Davonta Davis of Fall River, who goes by the nickname Freak. With the help of the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (CINRET) South, Detective Cormier requested an arrest warrant for Davis and began an operation to apprehend him.

In collaboration with law enforcement partners from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Massachusetts State Police CINRET South, Somerset Police Department’s Patrol Division, and Swansea Police Detective Division, the Somerset Police Detective Division captured Davis on Thursday. Davis, who was found in Somerset, tried to elude the police but was eventually caught and taken into custody. Investigators found a bag of suspected fentanyl that Davis had thrown away during the foot pursuit. It was eventually determined that the suspected fentanyl bag weighed around 100 grams, which is around ten times more than the minimum amount required to trade that drug in the state of Massachusetts. The estimated value of the recovered suspected fentanyl is $10,000.

Apart from the arrest warrant, Davis was also accused of trafficking 100 grams of fentanyl. Three counts of property vandalism and unarmed burglary are the offenses included on the arrest warrant.

Davis’ arraignment is set for Monday, and he was detained without bail.

William Tedford, the Chief of Police, acknowledged and commended the SPD Detective Division for their diligence and perseverance in seeing this case through to its successful conclusion. Detectives put in many hours of labor, and they were rewarded with the seizure of several lethal drugs and another exceptional arrest of a career criminal.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Secret Service, the Massachusetts State Police CINRET South, the Massachusetts State Police VFAS unit, the Swansea Massachusetts Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police CAST Unit were all thanked by the Somerset Police Department for their assistance and information that resulted in Davis’s capture.
