Birmingham Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Two Teens Arrested

On Sunday morning, Birmingham Police Department’s East Precinct officers recovered a stolen Hyundai Elantra in the 8200 block of 5th Avenue South. The vehicle had been taken earlier, along with another car, in a string of thefts targeting Kias and Hyundais. Two teenage boys, aged 15 and 14, were taken into custody after fleeing the scene.

Police linked stolen property found in the recovered vehicle to at least one other car break-in that occurred in the South Eastlake neighborhood earlier that morning.

To help prevent similar incidents, Birmingham Police advise investing in a steering wheel anti-theft lock, parking in a garage, and positioning home security cameras toward vehicles. For more details on this case, visit CBS 42’s full report.
